Doors to Adore

This is SO ironic. Just last week I took photos of my front door so we can redo it. My intention is to paint the door burgundy and get RID of the screen door that really doesn't do anything any more. It's the same one we've had for 25+ years and I want to replace it. Unfortunately, or fortunately in some cases, when we built the house the door is EXTRA wide to accomodate a wheelchair and regular/standard screen doors don't fit. We paid a pretty penny years ago to have one custom made and would have to again. So, in the mean time, I'd like to get rid of it, and when/if I decide I want to spend that kind of money again, get a NEW one. What do you think?
Thanks to Kari and Kijsa for this great blog idea!!! Visit them at http://kariandkijsa.blogspot.com/ and see what everyone else thinks!

  2. Thank your for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower. I wanted to drop in and say hello. You have a nice front door set up. My suggestion if you keep the screen door is to paint it the same burgundy so it blends in. I would keep the door it if you actually use it, but if not I would take it off. You can store it and see if you miss it. I hope you take photos after you paint it, I would like to see how it looks. The burgundy will create a strong presence and give it a lot of depth. I agree it will be a good choice with your green house color since they are complimentary colors on the color wheel. To mount my front door wreath, I used a large suction cup. I found it at the craft store in the floral department. It is made specifically for hanging wreaths and can take the weight. Since my door is glass I could not use a nail, and I don’t like the brass hangers, because they tend to bang when you open and close the door and they are to short so the wreaths are hung to high. (Just my opinion, for what it matters). You have a lovely home I like the shade of green on it. Well I have rambled enough, but I look forward to getting to know you. I am definitely more of a country mouse then a city mouse and love small communities. Take care and have a wonderful day…..~Cathy~

  3. Perhaps after you paint the door you will find that you love the screen door! Paint does wonders. Great front porch.
