Thrifty Thursday

A whole table full of treasurers from Goodwill Hunting over the weekend!

The tea pot is missing the lid, there's a candle holder, hydrangea dish, creamer, bee hive pitcher, and 4 clear pie plates.
This has the bee hive pitcher, a bonnet lid dish, lady bug votive, and 4 sunflower plates. Love, love, love all these things, can't wait to use them!

I think I'll paint this black. The candle holder is quite cute too.

I love this candleabra, can't decided if I want to paint it or not.......

Tablescape Thursday

To begin with, it's a season change for me. You see, I have these plastic placemats that I use under things in the kitchen, like under the coffee pot, under the utensils by the stove, to protect the wood on my real butcher block island. But it's time for the Gloria Vanderbilt to go away.....
and the red/white/blue to come out!!!! So, while I'm on a roll, just go ahead and do the tablescape silly!!!
Love the simplicity, cause you know - it's all about the freedom and the FLAG!

I used a flag style of table runner. On top of this piece of white double knit with navy stars that I used on the table.
Throw in just a little thing here and there from Pier I, like plates, candle, what else can I find?

More Pier I - star shaped serving dishes that also work well for candle dishes.

Love the little dots on the glasses, also from Pier I.

This one was a lot of fun!!!!
Have a happy and safe Memorial Day. Let us all give thanks for the men and women fighting for us this weekend and every other day of the year. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!Joi

What's On Your Wall Wednesday

What's on my wall is photos of DD#2 with her babies from L to R is Emma, in the middle is Landon, and then Brady. The one of Landon is without Emilie I guess. I did them in black and white, framed them in white mat with black frame, all different. The wall color is actually a buttery yellow, which I noticed never comes out that color when you photograph it. Oh well. that's what's on my wall!

Thanks for stopping by to see what's on my wall! You can find more at http://gritsglamour.blogspot.com/

Three or More Tuesday

My three or more this week, is dolls. I have more than this, but I've kinda hit the highlights. the first one below is Princess Di in the white dress that has pearls on it. It's from one of the collectible places, don't remember which one, but I had to make payments on it - so it's kinda expensive. One of the highlights I've had in the past 10 years was to drive to the Precious Moments Chapel in Missouri and see the Princess Di dress collection that was there. The actual dress that is on the doll below was there, and I almost cried!

These Phantom of the Opera dolls are from the same place as the Princess Di, you'd think a person spends that kind of money on a doll, they'd at least remember where....hmmm.....

The doll below was my Grandma Alleys and you've probably seen her on my post before. She is wearing one of my Easter dresses from when I was a litle girl.

The doll below was one that Santa gve me when I was little. The doll actually came with her own doll, and my sister got it. We got look alike clothes, and beds, and blankets. All of which I still have.
The last two shown are from the same company as the others, now I'm getting curious myself. They are both angel dolls, and one of them is named Angela. I bought it because it's my daughter's name. I also have an Emily doll, but didn't take her photo, I don't know why......
I love the blue eyes on these two, because all of our family have blue eyes.

I love my dolls, each and every one has such a special place in my world!

Metamorphosis Monday/Today's Thrifty Treasures

Changing this to a double post, since it definitely fits the description!!!

Remember a few weeks back DH and I had been junking at a town nearby? Well, if you don't remember, let me refresh. We spent the evening driving around this small town picking up some items that we just couldn't live without. The table shown above is the Metamorphosis for this week. As you can see, it needed some TLC, but had good bones. The table has the cutest little drawer, and the way it's put together makes it an obvious antique. DH took it home, cleaned, it up and first took off the top. The top had been replaced before and was a piece of plywood, with wood-look contact paper on it. DH sent me to Home Depot the next week to find a piece of wood that could be used for the top. He measured and cut it to fit and it looked good. After that I knew we had a hit here. It was looking good, but DH wasn't done. DH decided the left over piece of board from the top could be added to make dress it up a little. He added the curved board on the back for decoration by using a 5 gallon bucket for the middle curve, and barrell for the outside curves. It certainly added a little attitude, don't you think? After several coats of white paint, it was ready for placement.

It has such neat detail with the carved legs and all.

I think it turned out pretty well, and it was certainly in my price range! It's hard to find a nice bedside table that is tall enough for this bed and I think we did well this time!!!

Thanks for joining me on this MetMonday post. It's been fun! Join in on the fun with us at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ with Susan who's definitely the best hostess ever. Judging from the amount of people that are members of her blog I think quite a few others agree with me!

Pink Saturday

My first pink this week is my beautiful neice Cassie who will be graduating from High School this next week!!! Here's her Senior pictures I took earlier on that wonderful bridge my husband built. Doesn't she look gorgeous in that PINK dress!!! Best Wishes Cassie, I'm proud of you and know you can do anything you put your mind to! God Bless You!!!
Next is my original pink post. Cassie just added so much though, don't you think?

I hope you are all very happy, just knowing that I've come out of the closet. I am no longer a "closet" pink lover, I've gone all the way.... Pink laptop bag, pink FLOWERED purse, pink palm phone, and pink striped grandma glasses!!! I will take none of the credit for the awesome purse though - DIL gave it to me for Christmas and I've been dying for spring so I could carry it.

Thanks for another great Pink Saturday, Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ is waiting for you to join the 160+ other participants!

Thrifty Thursday - My FIRST!

A few years back I told my Mom how much I loved the look of old seamstress models. She started looking around for some, and now I have more than one. Hmmmm.....I see a 3 or more post coming up..... Anyway, I've had it sitting in my DD#1's bedroom, naked as can be. It was used by my Mom to make my step sisters prom dress and now is not needed. As you can see, the instructions are still with it, sticking out of the neck. I decided to bring it upstairs and put it in my sunroom. There was a wood corner cabinet here and I moved it to my son's room in the basement. It sure brightened up the corner, and it's just...FUN! It was free!!!!
Here she is all dressed for Spring! With her pretty vintage spring scarf and apron on. Guess she would fit in on a Pink Saturday too! I've decided to name her "Maude", since the day I brought her upstairs was the day Beatrice Arthur died. At least when I talk about "Maude", everyone will know who I mean, right? I'm looking forward to dressing her different for holidays, or whatever. I have enough vintage aprons to get there the next year.
Guess you can't get much more thrifty than FREE!? Huh? I've enjoyed my first Thrifty Thursday, and I'm warnin' ya, I got alot of 'em!!! Join Leigh at http://lbratina.blogspot.com/2009/05/thrifty-thursday-plus-tablescape_13.html for many more!!
